NRS Consulting Engineers is one of the nation's leading engineering firms specializing in desalination. In Texas alone, NRS has designed nearly 30 percent of the state's brackish groundwater desalination capacity. Under a grant from the Texas Water Development Board, NRS wrote the Guidance Manual for Brackish Groundwater Desalination in Texas. Free copies of the guidance manual are available on CD-ROM by calling NRS' Austin office at (512) 236-8500. You can also read the manual online at www.desal.org and download specific information on desalination options from the website.
In addition to its design and construction expertise in brackish groundwater desalination, NRS is the only engineering firm to design, build, and pilot two seawater desalination projects along the Texas Gulf Coast. One was built under the authority of the Brownville Public Utilities Board along the Brownsville Ship Channel. The other is being built for the Laguna Madre Water District on South Padre Island.
NRS also designs traditional water supply projects, including:
- Water treatment and distribution systems
- Wastewater treatment and collection systems
- Wastewater reuse
- Irrigation systems
- Advanced treatment methods for surface and groundwater
